‘CALLS TO REVOKE DR CHILUFYA’S PRACTISING LICENCE NONSENSICAL’
By SILUMESI MALUMO IT is absurd and nonsensical to demand that former Health minister, Chitalu Chilufya’s medical practicing licence be revoked when he has not been proclaimed guilty of anything, former deputy minister of Finance, Danny Pule has said. Dr Pule said the termination of contract of service does not mean that he was guilty because President Edgar Lungu has the right to hire and fire at will. He was reacting to Southern Africa Network Against Corruption director, Gregory Chifire’s demands that Dr Chilufya’s medical practicing licence be revoked. Mr Chifire claimed that the former minister had gone against the sacred Hippocratic Oath. But Dr Pule, who is also Christian Democratic Party president said the former minister of Health can only be subjected to punishment if he was guilty of an offence. Dr Pule said in an interview yesterday that as long as the minister was not involved in the Honeybee scandal his practicing licence cannot be revoked. He said all those calling for the revocation of the practising licence were misplaced and do not understand the procedure on how licences for medical practitioners were revoked
