FOOTBALL Association of Zambia (FAZ) president Andrew Kamanga has applauded Toyota Zambia for giving the association a new Toyota Prado GX worth US$100,000.
Speaking during the signing of the new partnership with Toyota Zambia, Kamanga said the vehicle which will be exclusively assigned to the senior national team coach will go a long way in supporting his transport needs.
Kamanga, who urged the corporate world to emulate Toyota Zambia, said the association has been having challenges with transport for the senior national team coach.
Kamanga said the association has a lot of opportunities where a lot of corporate partners can partner with FAZ who can provide marketing services.
Meanwhile, Kamanga said FAZ has embarked on a programme to try to reduce its dependence on the government.
“Obvious we can’t take the support from government for granted because as you would expect, government continues to have other areas which may be more important than football and I think as an association this is why we have embarked on a programme to try and make FAZ financially independent,” he said.
And Toyota Zambia Chief Operations Officer, Nerad Predrevac reaffirmed their commitment to contribute to the growth of soccer in Zambia.
Predrevac said the firm decided to partner with FAZ to support development of football in Zambia not just at national team level but at all levels.
Predrevac said there is a lot of potential in Zambia and Toyota understood the need for the national team coach to travel to find good players who can be put in proper structures for them to be the best players in Africa.
Meanwhile, FAZ General Secretary Adrian Kashala said the association has disbursed the second batch of Covid-19 funds received from FIFA.
Kashala says the association has disbursed the resources to the Super Division and National Division One clubs as promised.
The first batch of the US$1 million FIFA Covid-19 relief funds were disbursed in August 2019 with the second batch lined up for January 2021.
