3 farmers face stock theft charges
Mulenga Musonda writes @sunzambian  Three farmers have been arraigned to the Choma Magistrates Court to exculpate themselves from allegations of stealing two cows valued at over K10, 000. Mainga Mulambo 26, Agent Mulomba 46 and Obvious Hampende 42 appeared before Court charged with one count of Stock Theft contrary to sections 275 and 272 of the Penal Code, Chapter 87 of the Laws of Zambia. Allegations are that the three, jointly and whilst acting together stole 1 Ox and 1 Cow valued at K11, 000 the property of Dunster Sinandabwe. The alleged theft is said to have happened on December 9, 2020 in Choma district. When they were called to take plea by Senior Public Prosecutor Charles Chinzai before Principal Resident Magistrate Idah Mupemo, they all strongly denied the charge against them compelling the Court to enter pleas of not guilty.  However, the matter could not proceed into trial despite the Court being ready to hear the witness’s testimonies; this was because the complainant complained of being unwell when he was called to tell his side of the story. The matter was adjourned to February 8, 2021 for trial.
