SUN BUSINESS writes @SunZambian SMALL scale farmers who benefited from the Farmer Input Support Programme (FISP) for the 2020/21 farming season have praised President Edgar Lungu for ensuring that inputs were delivered on time, saying the development will result into the area recording a bumper harvest. The farmers were speaking in Serenje yesterday when Nyimba Investments officials led by Head-Sales and Marketing Manager Willings Mulendema visited the area to check on the progress made towards the collection of inputs for the 2020/21 farming season. Nyimba was contracted to supply 3,423.9 metric tonnes which translates into 68,478 bags, which farmers said Nyimba had delivered by September. One of the beneficiaries Mutale Moti of Kashamata cooperative under Chililabombwe farming camp said he was happy that for the first time Serenje has received the entire quantities. “We thank the government and our District Agriculture Coordinator (DACO) who has been working hard to ensure that everything went on well. This is the first time that we have input early,” said Moti. He said that Nyimba Investment was working in tandem with the presidential directive of supplying and delivering inputs on time. “We will be able to record a bumper harvest and this is what the president has been wanting. We commend Nyimba for the good works,” he said. Another beneficiary Lydia Musonda said that she was happy that Nyimba was able to deliver inputs in good time ahead of the planting season. She said that farmers in Serenje were appreciative that Nyimba was able to deliver all the inputs in good time saying the area would be able to record a bumper harvest. And Nyimba Investments Head-Sales and Marketing Manager Willings Mulendema said that his company has now started procuring the commodity for the 2021/22 farming season.
