JOHN KOMBE writes @SunZambian A local business in Chongwe has donated assorted foodstuff to more than 40 patients admitted to Chongwe District Hospital as a Christmas gesture. Plan B Pub and Lounge Managing Director, Lloyd Njomwa, said that the donation was part of his company’s way of appreciating its customers. He said that the donation was also motivated by the fact that the hospital was the place where many neglected and uncared for people were found. The donated items included six 25kg bags of soya powder for porridge, 10 cases of cabana soft drinks, bottles of peanut butter, 10 cases of mineral water and 10 packets of cereal puffs. Mr Njomwa said that when one was hospitalized even friends and relatives tended to desert them and that it was for this reason that his company decided to help the people who were hospitalized during the festive season. In receiving the donation, Chongwe Hospital Administrator, Catherine Kamushila thanked the donor for remembering the patients during the festive season. She observed that the festive season should not be restricted to homes, but that the people in the health facilities also needed to celebrate. Ms Kamushila said that nutrition was key during the period of treatment and as such the donation was very much appreciated.  She appealed to other organizations to emulate the gesture and lend a hand in helping those who were hospitalized.
