5 murder accused committed to highcourt

RABECCA BANDA writes@SunZambianFive Lusaka men charged with murder and aggravated robbery have been committed to the highcourt.The Director of Public Persecutions has issued a certificate to commit the accused Penias Nkosiya , 34, a sales man of Kabanana, Fred Banda 29 a butcher man of Kabanana, Byness Kabwe 30 an Airtel money agent of kabanana, George Kabwe 47 a marketer of Kabanana and Steven Phiri 27 a Airtel money agent of SOS for murder and aggravate robbery charges.The accused persons appeared before Lusaka magistrate Nsunge Chanda for explanation of the murder and aggravated robbery charges.Magistrate Chanda explained to the accused persons that they were appearing for explanation because the offences are tried at the high court.The five accused person are charged with 21 counts of murder and aggravated robbery.In count one, Penias Nkosiya is accused of aggravated robbery.It is alleged that on October 6 2019, Nkosiya jointly and whilst acting with others unknown and armed with a weapon did steal a cellphone and assorted items worth K3,445 from Astridah Mweemba.In count two , it is alleged that Nkosiya jointly and whilst together with other persons unknown did murder Elina Mweemba on October 23 2019.In count three, it is alleged that George Kabwe, Nkosiya and Phiri jointly and whilst acting with others unknown did murder Eunice Mukosiya on October 26 2020.In count four, it is alleged that George Kabwe, Nkosiya and Phiri between October 24 and October 25 jointly and whilst with others unknown did murder Clement Nkuzu.In count five, it is alleged that Nkosiya on dates unknown but between November 18 and November 19 2029 jointly and acting with others unknown did murder Maureen Kasuni.Public prosecutor informed magistrate Chanda that the Director of Public Persecution had issued the certificate and the magistrates acted accordingly.
