Radio host cuts off Minister
SIMON MUNTEMBA writes AN attempt by Lusaka Province minister, Bowman Lusambo to clarify his perceived ‘beef’ with musicians through a live radio phone-interview on Hot FM was yesterday aborted after the presenter, Mutale Mwanza cut his line prematurely. In what can be described as an aggressive interview, Mr Lusambo continued to put across his points despite repeated attempts by the Red Hot Breakfast show host to interject. “You talk about Kings (Malembe Malembe) and Brian (B-Flow), don’t bring the issue of musicians. Don’t bring in other musicians. I did not address, musicians. I am one of the person who has been promoting the musicians in this country. Ask them, about Bowman, they will tell you that Bowman Lusambo respects us,” the Minister said as Mutale interrupted, “but why would you say that Brian is putting the country into disrepute?” Mr Lusambo continued, “Look here Mutale, you are a presenter there, don’t incite things which are not there. The issue at hand here is me and Kings, not musicians, underline that word”. Uncompromised Mutale then warned the Minister that she would cut the line if he continued talking and not listening to her, but Mr Lusambo quickly chipped in to emphasize his clarification… “Honorable…,hallo…,Honorable Lusambo we are having a conversation and if you are not going to listen to what I am asking you, we are going to cut you because you can’t be talking the whole time. Do you want to have a conversation or you want to keep talking? Listen to understand and don’t listen to respond, okay, we can’t both be talking at the same time, we are going to cut you off, when you are ready to understand and listen we will give you a platform and we’ll engage you.  “We are cutting you off, no we are cutting you off, thank you. Thanks for calling, because you don’t want to listen, you need to listen to understand, not listen to respond, honorable. We are cutting you off with all due respect, thank you so much,” Mutale said before cutting him. Meanwhile, the Zambian musician, Brian Bwembya alias B-flow, and Mr Lusambo have reconciled.  The two were yesterday afternoon shown posing in a reconciliation photo session at State House in Lusaka.
