By SANFROSSA MANYINDA THE Kitwe City Council (KCC) has warned of stern action against individuals and political parties erecting billboards of stern action. The council said those that wished to erect any bill boards needed to first seek clearance of the Road Development Agency (RDA) and the approval of the local authority. KCC Public Relations Manager, Chola Mwamba, said this was to avoid compromising road safety. “Members of the public need to seek permission from relevant authorities when erecting new billboards within the district. “Placement of billboards without the approval of RDA and the Local Authority in the district is illegal and it shall not be entertained,” she said. Ms Mwamba said there were designated places for placements of billboards with guidance from the local authority. She said only the council had the mandate to ensure that placement of posters, billboards and stickers was guided to enhance road safety and avoid defacing the City. Ms Mwaba further appealed to the residents and political parties to always seek guidance from relevant authorities when doing such things.
