JOHN KOMBE writes@SunZambianA 33 year old man of Chikwela village in Chongwe has appeared for commencement of trial in Chongwe magistrate court for theft and malicious damage.Bryson Masongo appeared for trial before magistrate Marjory Saasa. He is charged with two counts of theft and malicious damage contrary to Section 272 of the penal code, Chapter 87 of the laws of Zambia and Section 335 of the penal code, Chapter 87 of the laws of Zambia respectively.Particulars of the matter in the first count are that on August 5, 2020 the accused person did steal two Chitenge materials and cash amounting to K270. While in the second count the accused is alleged to have maliciously damaged a door frame, two bottles of lotion, three pairs of trousers and four dresses on the same date. The property in both counts belonged to Memory Banda.The accused earlier denied the charge and submitted that he only stole the Chitenge materials and not the K270. He also denied damaging the other property and said that he only destroyed the door frame, two dresses and one pair of trousers.The matter could not take-off as witnesses were not before court. The court therefore adjourned the matter to November 3rd for continued trial. The Sun
