TWO employees of Khosi Breweries of Kafue have been sentenced to four months imprisonment for stealing five containers of chibuku (opaque beer) and 11 pieces of gold tiles all valued at K900 property of Khosi breweries. Appearing at the Kafue magistrate court before magistrate Moffat Phiri was Paul Michelo, 31 and Martin Banda, 39, both of Kalundu View Area accused of stealing beer and 11 pieces of gold tiles for Khosi breweries. Facts of the matter before court are that on May 20 around 03:00 hours police officers came across the accused person pushing a bicycle carrying five containers of opaque beer and tiles trying to cross the road. The two were then apprehended and taken to the police custody and they all admitted to the charge. And all K900 worth of property was recovered. Magistrate: Did you steal the said items? Accused: Yes Magistrate: Who got the items? Accused one: My uncle got the items, I just escorted him Magistrate: Why did you accept the charge? Accused one: Because I was found with the items Magistrate: Where you with A1 when stealing? Accused two: I called him to assist me to carry the items Both Michelo and Banda pleaded guilty and asked for leniency from the court. The court heard their mitigation and charged them accordingly.
