Chinsali MP empowers bus drivers
CHINSALI Member of Parliament (MP), Kalalwe Mukosa, has empowered the District Taxi Drivers Association with a minibus valued at K145, 000. The bus has since been handover to the association. Muchinga Province Permanent Secretary, Joyce Nsamba, said the bus would improve the lives of many people if utilised properly. The Permanent Secretary said this in a speech ready on her behalf by Provincial Assistance Secretary, Sam Mbewe. Ms Nsamba noted that the bus should not bring division among members but should spur growth of the association. “As association members you should be mindful that the income that will be generated through this bus needs to evolve through different activities such as repair and servicing of the bus, purchase of spare and salaries among other issues,” she advised. Ms Nsamba further praised the MP for the gesture and encouraged him to work closely with the Provincial Youth Development Office in order to make the youth empowerment programme viable. And Mukosa urged the beneficiaries to guard the bus jealously and remain united as they operate it. ”You should remain united as unity is an essential tool in development, avoid division as it hinders any kind of development and support,” he said. Speaking earlier, Chinsali Taxi Drivers Association Chairperson, Samson Musukwa, said that the association would ensure that the bus was utilized prudently. “We are grateful to the MP for remembering and empowering us with a bus, this is the first time the association has been empowered so we will ensure that we utilise it well,” he said. Mr Musukwa said the donation would improve their lives thereby contributing to the economic growth of the district. The Sun
