A 37-YEAR-OLD man has been arrested for allegedly stabbing his wife to death with a kitchen knife in Maamba District of Southern Province, police spokesperson Esther Katongo has said.
Ms Katongo said that the deceased had been identified as Grace Mutale, 36, of New Township in Maamba and that the incident occurred in the early hours of April 20 around 01:00 hours.
In a statement, Ms Katongo said that the police that visited the scene found Ms Mutale’s body was lying on the bed facing upwards in a pool of blood with a deep cut on the left side of the neck.
“A blood stained kitchen knife was recovered from the scene and the suspect who did not run away has been apprehended,” she said
Ms Katongo said that preliminary investigations revealed that the incident happened because of a domestic dispute.
She said the body had been deposited in Maamba Hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem and that the suspect was in police custody.
