By ROGERS KALEROI WANT to see a significant amount being allocated towards students’ loans in the 2022 proposed National Budget to be presented next Friday, Kamfinsa Member of Parliament Christopher Kang’ombe has said.
Mr Kang’ombe said he was sure that if a significant amount was allocated towards students’ loans in the 2022 proposed National Budget, many students would be catered for in the loan scheme.
He said he was overwhelmed with so many calls from students who have been left out on the recently announced list of those to be sponsored by the government at most public universities.“Their dreams cannot be shattered just like that. We need to ramp up the funds to support their plans, aspirations and goals.
“In the 2022 proposed National Budget to be presented next week on Friday, I want to see a significant amount being allocated towards student’s loans,” Mr Kang’ombe said.Mr Kang’ombe said, in 2004, he was privileged to be sponsored by Government to pursue a degree in Electrical /Mechanical Engineering at the Copperbelt University (CBU).
“Tax payers money facilitated my progress and that of many others from Ndeke Township and other low cost areas across Zambia,” he said.Mr Kang’ombe said he was working on putting up the first ever skills training centre in the constituency for short trade tested courses. He said the establishment of the first ever skills training centre was one of his focus areas as Kamfinsa MP because he believed in empowering youths for various entrepreneurship. He said he will not only end up at skills training, but also use his connections, to link up the graduates to industry for possible job and business opportunities.
“Every long journey starts with a single step and I can tell you that one of my focus areas as I begin my tour of duty as Kamfinsa MP is the establishment of a first ever skills training centre in the constituency for short trade tested courses.“We will not end at just skills training, but also find a way of linking up the graduates to industry for possible job and business opportunities. It sounds long term but we have to start the planning now,” he said.
Mr Kang’ombe also said a few other key stakeholders have been identified and will receive their proposal for their input. It sounds long term but we have to start the planning now.Ends.
