Truck driver dies in freak accident

LINDA SOKO TEMBO writes A DRIVER of a freightliner truck has died after a motor vehicle he was working on rolled over and crushed him in Mazabuka, police spokesperson Esther Katongo has said. Ms Katongo said that the incident happened when the said driver stopped the truck and went under it to check on a mechanical fault, and in the process the truck rolled back and ran over him, subsequently it hit into a car washing shelter. In a statement, Ms Katongo said that this happened on May 7 at about 19:30 hours at Sichone area 30 metres off the Great North road and two kilometers south of Mazabuka town. Ms Katongo said that the accident involved a motor vehicle Freight Liner truck registration number ACP 540 driven from South to North direction by Francis Milanzi Bissa, 57 of Ndola. “The driver sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead upon reaching Mazabuka General Hospital,” she said. Ms Katongo said that the body of the victim was at Mazabuka General Hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem and that an inquiry had been launched in the matter. The Sun
