A 66-YEAR-OLD man of Cement area in Solwezi district has been murdered by his son after a quarrel over a chicken which the suspect had sold.
North-Western province Commissioner of Police, Elias Chushihas confirmed the incident that occurred on Monday around 19:00 hours.
Mr Chushi said the deceased Abel Sandangombe of Sandangombe village in Chief Kapijimpanga was murdered by his biological son identified as Kelion Sandangombe aged 25 after the two quarrelled over the chicken in question.
He explained that Kelion picked up a log and repeatedly hit his father on the head causing him to sustain fatal injuries and later died.
“The two picked up a quarrel over a chicken his son had sold. The suspect then hit his father repeatedly on the head with a log and he sustained fatal injuries and later died,” he said.
The Provincial Police Chief said the body of the deceased is lying in Solwezi General Hospital mortuary while the suspect has been arrested and yet to be charged with murder.
