Police bond extended in Chipata car theft case
MULENGA MUSONDA writes THE Choma Magistrates Court has entered a plea of not guilty in a case in which a Businessman is accused of stealing a Motor Vehicle. Lubinda Liyungu 38, a resident of Choma Town Centre was appearing before Court for Theft of a Motor Vehicle contrary to section 272 and 281(A) of Chapter 87 of the Penal Code of the Laws of Zambia. Allegations are that Liyungu stole a Vehicle namely a Rav 4 bearing registration number ALG 4454 valued at K43,000 the property of Alice Mbewe. The theft is alleged to have happened 21 September 2019 and 8 April 2020 in Choma district of Southern Province. When he appeared for plea before Senior Resident Magistrate IdahMupemo, he strongly denied the charge read to him. Court: Do you understand the charge read to you? Liyungu: I do Court: Do you admit or deny? Liyungu: I deny. Court: I record a plea of not guilty. After entering a plea of not guilty the state applied for an adjournment to a later date for trial.
