POLICE in Lukulu District of Western Province are investigating a murder case in which a 53-year-old man of Mukomena Village in Chief Kandombwe area was shot dead by unknown gunmen on Wednesday.
Lukulu Police Officer In Charge, Chief Inspector Kelvin Mulenga told ZANIS in an interview that the deceased, Given Mukomena, 53, was shot with an automatic rifle between 22:30 and 24:00 hours on May 13, 2020.
Chief Insp. Mulenga said the deceased sustained bullet wounds in the chest, which resulted in his death.
He said the body was picked by the police and deposited in the district hospital mortuary in Lukulu awaiting postmortem and burial.
The Chief Inspector said the police are currently investigating the matter in order to bring the culprit of the murder case to book.
