Mwinilunga residents urged to get NRCs
A civic leader has appealed to the people of Mwinilunga district of North-western Province to take advantage of the on-going mobile National Registration Card (NRC) issuance to obtain the national document. Kakoma ward councillor, Jonathan Chinyimba, said people that had attained the age of 16 and those who could have lost or have damaged their NRCs must not miss the opportunity to acquire the document during the exercise. Mr Chinyimba, who is also District Town Council Vice Chairperson, said this in an interview in Solwezi yesterday. He explained that an NRC was an important document as it gave people a national identity and enabled them to participate in making national decisions by way of voting during elections. “We have a lot of people here in our district who have attained the age of 16 and above who want to obtain NRCs but they don’t have information. So I want to tell them that there is a mobile NRC issuance exercise going on right now and they should go and get one at designated places in their areas,” he said. About 80,000 people have been targeted to be captured under the on-going mobile issuance of NRCs in North-western Province which commenced on 1st August, this year. -ZANIS The Sun
