Fire truck overturns on Covid-19 mission
LINDA SOKO TEMBO writes  A FIRE TRUCK that was destined for mass disinfection at Chelstonemarket as part of efforts to fight Covid-19 yesterday overturned, Lusaka City Council (LCC) public relations manager George Sichimba has said. Mr Sichimba said that there were nine crew members on board who had been rushed to the University Teaching Hospital (UTH) for medical examinations. In a statement, Mr Sichimba said that the incident happened on May 2 around 06:00 hours at the junction of Makishi and Great East Road. “LCC is saddened that one of its fire trucks has been involved in a road traffic accident. “The truck was destined for Chelstone Market for mass disinfection of the market in the Council’s continued effort to disinfect public places in the wake of Coronavirus pandemic,” he said.  Mr Sichimba said that medical personnel would determine the conditions of those who were involved in the accident.   Meanwhile, Chakunkula Ward 32 councilor, Smart Mwitwa has expressed sadness over the accident because the truck was heading to his ward to disinfect the main market. Dr Mwitwa thanked Lusaka Province Minister Bowman Lusambo and other well-wishers who came on board to fight the COVID-19 in the ward. The Sun
