SIMON MUNTEMBA writes@SunZambianA 52-YEAR-OLD woman of Likulau Village, Chief Chizela in Mufumbwe District has died after being struck by lightning inside her house.Zambia Police spokesperson, Esther Katongo who confirmed the incident has identified the victim as Monica Muswenyesa.Ms Katongo told the Daily Nation in a statement that the Police in Mufumbwe received a report of sudden and unnatural death of Ms Muswenyesa on Monday around 23:00 hours.“Police in Mufumbwe of Northwestern Province received a report of Sudden and Unnatural death which occurred on 23rd November, 2020 around 2300 hours, at Likulau Village, Chief Chizela in Mufumbwe District, in which Monica Muswenyesa aged 52 died after she was struck by lightning inside her house,” Ms Katongo said.She said the body of the victim was deposited in Mufumbwe District Hospital mortuary awaiting burial.In a related development, Ms Katongo said, Police in Kazungula District received a report from Samuel Muyeye aged 51 of Sikili Village, Chief Sekute of Kazungula of the death of a five year female juvenile after being struck by lightning.She identified the victim as Mizezo Siamukoma , while her father Robert Siamakoma aged 56 and her mother identified as Emmelda Mulinda aged 37 survived with injuries.“Female juvenile Sevina Siamukoma aged two years, 2 months also sustained injuries and her condition was described to be unstable,” she said.Ms Katongo said this occurred on 24th November Tuesday 2020 at around 06:00 hours at the above mentioned village.She said all the surviving victims were admitted to Kazungula Clinic while the body of the girl was deposited in Batoka Mortuary Hospital awaiting Postmodern.Meanwhile, Ms Katongo said two people sustained serious injuries while six others survived with minor injuries in a serious road traffic accident which occurred on Tuesday, November 24 at about 1810 hours at Orex filling station within Mazabuka town along the Great North Road.She said Involved was a Foton truck registration number BAL 7804 and trailer ALG 5348T which was being driven by an unknown driver from north to south direction.She said the accident happened when the motor vehicle which was descending a slop near radio Mazabuka towards Mazabuka town developed defective breaks hence careered off the road to the left and hit into a fuel pump and the filling station building where it later stopped.Ms Katongo said the injured were taken to Mazabuka General Hospital where some were treated as outpatients.
