DON’T GET COVID-19 OVERDOSE – MALAMA
By SIMON MUNTEMBA GOVERNMENT has urged the public to ensure that they only get their Covid-19 doses as directed by health care workers. Ministry of Health Permanent Secretary for Technical Services, Kennedy Malama advised the public against yearning for another dose after the prescribed doses. “Vaccines such as AstraZeneca and Sinopharm require two doses and one should ensure that they get both doses while Johnson and Johnson requires one dose only and one does not need to yearn for another dose,” Dr Malama said. He said should there be change to necessitate booster doses, the nation would be updated but for now, people should just stick to the guidance provided by health care workers. Dr Malama also said the number of new Covid-19 confirmed cases and deaths have reduced from 4, 222 the previous week to 3, 756 this week while deaths reduced from 134 to 78. He said the reducing trend in positivity was an indication that Zambia was on the right trajectory. Dr Malama however urged the public to ensure compliance with the prescribed public health guidance.
