RABECCA BANDA writes@SunZambian A Lusaka magistrates has ordered the verification of a medical receipt in a matter where a man is accused of forgery and uttering false documents.The has been dragged to court for allegedly forging a grade 12 school certificate and dishonestly earning himself K343,691.12 ngwee.Particulars of the office before magistrate Felix Kaoma was Christopher Kangwa 44, a businessman who allegedly forged a grade 12 certificate and dishonestly earned for himself K343,691.12.It is alleged that on dates unknown but between January 9 2012 and December 30 2016 with intent to deceive and defraud and whilst acting with other persons unknown did forge a document namely school certificate number 870380887 in the names of Christopher Kangwa by purporting to show that it was genuinely issued by examination council of Zambia when in fact not.In count two Kangwa is accused of uttering false documents on dates unknown but between January 9 2012 and December 30 2016 knowingly and fraudulently did utter false document namely school certificate number 870380887 in the name of Christopher Kangwa to Emmanuel Longwe a human resource manager at Road Transport and Safety Agency.In count three Kangwa is accused of obtaining pecuniary advantage by false pretenses.It is alleged that Kangwa on dates unknown but between January 9 2012 and December 30 2016 dishonestly did obtain a pecuniary advantage by earning for himself a remuneration of K343,691.12 ngwee from Road Transport and Safety Agency as an enforcement officer.When the matter come up for continued trial yesterday, Kangwa was absent.Mr. Kwangu Mukupa 36 a teacher of Lilanda informed the court that Kangwa was absent in court due to an illness.Mr. Mukupa further explained that Kangwa has malaria as he had recently travelled to Chipata.He said Kangwa gave him a medical receipt to show as evidence of his illness in courtMagistrate Kaoma asked Mr. Mukupa why Kangwa went to State House health center when there is a hospital in Chawama.Mr. Mukupa said he does not know why but that Kangwa only sent him to inform the court that he is unwell and show the receipt as evidence.Magistrate Kaoma said he did not understand why the accused went to seek medical attention at State House center when there is a hospital in Chawama where he lives.Magistrate Kaoma ordered the public prosecutor to verify the authenticity of the receipt.
