19 Covid-19 positives in Napsa Stars camp
MUKWIMA CHILALA writes ZAMBIAN Super League side NAPSA Stars has recorded a total of 19 COVID-19 cases ahead of tomorrow’s fixture against Buildcon to be played in Lusaka. NAPSA Stars Board Chairperson Greg Nsofu said the club undertook COVID-19 tests on Monday July 20 in line with FAZ guidelines and that results that came out yesterday indicates that a total of 15 players, four officials tested positive to the virus . Nsofu said all the positive officials and players had gone into self-isolation in line with the ministry of health guidelines. He said that the club had was in touch with the ministry of health to ensure that the cased were closely monitored so as to avoid further spread of the virus and that the rest of the team would continue preparation for upcoming fixtures . The NAPSA Stars Board Chairperson however said that the club was committed to fulfilling its fixtures despite the prevailing circumstances that had compelled it to make some important adjustments.  “The health and safety of our players and officials is of utmost importance to us .therefore we will continue to conduct our football activities under strict guidelines recommended by the health authorities and the Football Association of Zambia (FA) . I would like to appeal to our players , fans and the general football fraternity to adhere to guidelines including wearing masks , sanitizing and social distancing among others,” Nsofu said. “We are committed to fulfilling fixtures despite the prevailing circumstances that has compelled us to make some important adjustments.” The Pensioners scheduled to resume their Zambian league fixtures with a tie against Buildcon tomorrow.
