‘Drunk cop’ dropped
NOEL IYOMBWA writes THE Police officer who appeared to be drunk in a video which has gone viral on social media has lost his job. Zambia Police Inspector General, Kakoma Kanganja has ordered for the immediate dismissal of the uniformed officer in question. Mr Kanganja disclosed this during the handing over of 50 housing Units for police officers at Mazabuka Police Station recently. Mr Kanganja said the officer in the video must be fired with immediate effect for his conduct. The officer’s identity remains unknown and is seen in a video laying on the ground while in police uniform struggling to stand or walk. Mr. Kanganja did not disclose whether the Police command has identified the base of the cop or his name. He has however directed all regional commanders to deal with undisciplined police officers. He says it is worrying that officers who are supposed to be enforcers of law are the ones exhibiting high levels of indiscipline. Kanganja has further warned police officers against engaging in politics in the quest for promotions. The Sun
