98-year old man commits suicide

A 98-year old man of Kalima Village in Chief Nkula’s area in Shiwang’andu District of Muchinga Province, has committed suicide by hanging himself. Muchinga Province Police Commissioner Joel Njase has confirmed the incident to ZANIS in an interview in Shiwang’andu today. Mr Njase said the incident occurred on Thursday last week around 16:00 hours in Kalima village. Mr Njase has identified the deceased as David Mukoma, 98, of Kalima village in Shiwang’andu. The Police Commissioner alleged that Mukoma committed suicide by hanging himself to a roofing pole inside a grass thatched hut using a rope. He added that the motive behind Mukoma taking his own life is not yet known. He said police visited the crime scene and physically inspected the dead body, saying no injuries were observed. He said police suspect no foul play and advised relatives to bury the body and mark the grave. “Yes I can confirm the death of a 98-year old man in Shiwang’andu District who committed suicide by hanging himself. Police have visited the scene and suspect no foul play,” said Eng Njase. The Sun
