NOEL IYOMBWA writes@SunZambianAN 18-year-old pupil of Lusaka High School has been admitted to the University Teaching hospital (UTH) after he was brutally attacked by fellow pupils, barely 24- hours after another pupil died from injuries sustained after a fight with pupils from a neighbouring school.Police spokesperson Esther Mwaata Katongo confirmed the incident to the SUN and identified the victim as Jeff Mibenge who was assaulted by his fellow pupils and was currently receiving treatment at the country’s biggest referral hospital.She said the attack happened yesterday around 12:30 hours within the school premises and further revealed that investigations had been instituted in the matterShe said the incident was reported to Police by the victim’s father.“The father reported of the incident after rushing the victim to hospital and police rushed to UTH but could not get full details of the injuries,” she said.Meanwhile, the Police spokesperson confirmed that a 17-year-old boy had died on Friday after he was allegedly attacked and beaten using golf club sticks by a group of pupils.She said that police had received a report of murder from Frank Phiri, 38, of Barlastone that his son Ryan Phiri was attacked and beaten by a group of pupils from Twin Palm Secondary School and later died at UTH at around 18:30 hours.Ms Katongo cautioned pupils who area sitting for exams in the country against taking the law into their own hands or risk been visited by law.“We therefore caution pupils writing their exams to desist from engaging themselves in criminal activities or risk being arrested and prosecuted,” she warned.
