Graveyard suicide

MUYANI SHINJABALE writes AN ELDERLY man of Luanshya District has hanged himself to a tree after being accused of being a wizard by his family members. Confirming the incident, Luanshya District Commissioner Patrick Maipambe said Mr Fitaliano Chikumbi, 86 years old of Kambilombilo Township of Luanshya committed suicide by hanging himself to a tree. Mr Maipambe stated that the incident happened in the early hours of Saturday, July 25 this year at Luanshya graveyard.  The Luanshya District Commissioner made the confirmation through a statement to the Sun.  He said the matter was reported by the son, Steven Musonda37 years of the same address at the Luanshya Central Police Station.  He said the man hanged himself to a tree at the graveyard using a rope after being accused of being a wizard by his family members.  Mr Maipambe stated that the suicide scene had been visited by the police stating that the body had been observed to have no visible injuries.  He said the body had been deposited in the Thomson hospital awaiting burial.
