By NATION REPORTERTHE Ministry of Tourism and Arts through the National Arts Council is planning to organize music and arts festival to help revive the business of artists after the Covid-19 outbreak.Tourism and Arts minister, Ronald Chitotela said President Edgar Lungu was in full support and ready to grace the event dubbed Presidential Coral Thanks Giving Festive.Mr Chitotela said the event which would be held at Heroes stadium or Levy Mwanawasa stadium was aimed at helping artists heal from the financial pressure caused by the economic down turn due to Covid-19.He said this during a meeting with the representatives of NAC and some selected artists among them Njoya Tembo, popularly known as Njoya T and Freddie Phiri, a film maker.“The Ministry wants to come up with the Presidential Coral Thanks Giving Festival, the President is in full support of this,” he said.Mr Chitotela said the event would start from the district, province and culminate into a national extravaganza that would bring together various forms of artists.He said the event would also help upcoming artists to have access to studio and recording time.“We will identify one or three or five talents per province and help promote them,” said Mr Chitotela.And NAC board member, Rodgers Mwewa said the event would give chance to the Zambian people through the artists to give thanks to the Lord for allowing life after the Covid 19.He said NAC would make the best out of the initiative through the arts to bring the country together and thank God for healing the world and Zambia in particular.And Njoya -T said the event would bring together musicians and see how best they could add value to their works opposed to the current situation were they are badly hit by advent technology and almost giving out their music for free.Meanwhile, Mr Chitotela has asked the leadership at Mushota Seventh Day Adventist Church in Kawambwa District to split worship hours into two sessions in line with Covid 19 prevention.Speaking yesterday when the congregated with the members of the church who turned up in numbers after weeks of a break following the outbreak of the Covid-19, the parliamentarian said this would work for members to maintain social distancing in the face of the coronavirus.
