FAZ tips CAF envoys
SUN SPORTS writes THE Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) has cautioned the two CAF envoys Nlana and Napsa Stars not to go to sleep after starting the pre-group stage fixtures with wins over TAS De Casablanca and Gor Mahiarespectively. Nkana beat TAS De Casblanca 2-0 in the first leg at Nkana Stadium while, NAPSA Stars were 1-0 victors over Kenyan giants Gor Mahia in the first leg played on Sunday in Nairobi. Kamanga said the victories over Casablanca and Gor Mahia puts the two sides in good stead to qualify to the lucrative group stage. He said there is need for both Nkana and Napsa Stars to continue working hard ahead of the second legs to be played in a week’s time. Kamanga said consistent appearance of Zambian teams in CAF competitions will help preserve the country’s four slots in continental competitions. “Winning the first legs of the pre group stage matches is a good start and puts NAPSA Stars and Nkana in a strong position to finish the job in the second round and qualify to the group stage,” Kamanga said. “We would like to urge them to work hard ahead of the second legs to be played in a week’s time.” And Zambia Sports Fans Association (ZASPOFA) patron Peter Makembo has emphasised the need for Napsa Stars and Nkana to continue doing the country proud in continental games. Makembo who led a group soccer fans who trooped to Kenneth Kaunda International Airport on Monday morning to give the Napsa Stars an unexpected welcome from Kenya, said soccer fans were proud of their achievements and urged them to stay focused to finish the job in Zambia. Zambia’s High Commissioner to Kenya, Joyce Kasosa praised NapsaStars for doing the country proud in Kenya.  Kasosa said the win over Gor Mahia means a lot not just to the Zambians in Kenya but all Zambia’s who were praying for the team to triumph in Kenya. Meanwhile, Napsa Stars coach Mohamed Fathi said the Pensioners are determined to make history after they made a historical qualification for the CAF Confederations Cup for the first time in the history of the club. Fathi said Napsa Stars will stay focused to achieve their targets to make a historical first time appearance in the confederations Cup group stages.
