Matero MP, Councillor face disciplinary action
SIMON MUNTEMBA writes THE ruling Patriotic Front (PF) in Lusaka’s Matero Constituency has instituted disciplinary action against their area Member of Parliament (MP), Llyod Kazhiya and Matero Ward 28 councillor, Ann Chinyantafor a public verbal altercation over a developed piece of land. PF Matero constituency chairperson, Chrispin Kabole told the Daily Nation that Mr Kazhiya and Ms Chinyanta would be disciplined for having put the name of the party into disrepute. This follows a verbal altercation between Mr Kazhiya and Ms Chinyantain a recorded video that had gone viral over a piece of land which the full council is said to have approved without the knowledge of the MP. The area MP who attempted to stop the development saying it was illegal because a piece of land in question was designated for road reserve openly differed with the defensive Ms Chinyanta. This led the councillor to tell Mr Kazhiya that he was not on the ground and not attending funerals in the constituency. At that point, tempers rose and Mr Kazhiya called Ms Chinyanta “a useless councilor”, to which she replied, “you’re a useless MP”. In an interview, Mr Kabole who was flaked by Matero East chairperson, Lee Mukupa and other party officials condemned the behavior of Mr Kazhiya and Ms Chinyanta saying it had put the name of the party into disrepute. “The party has instituted displinary action against the MP and councilor. “During the period of the process of the displinary action, no party official will be allowed to comment on the matter,” Mr Kabole said. He said the constituency would work with the Lusaka City Council to resolve the matter involving the piece of land that had been developed. Mr Kabole further warned that the party would not allow any indiscipline from its members regardless of their status. Mr Kabole said the displinary action against Mr Kazhiya and Ms Chinyanta should serve as a warning to other party officials. The Sun
