INCINERATOR NIGHTMARE HAUNTS FAMILY
NOEL IYOMBWA writes THE family of Chipata compound whose house is few centimeters from an incinerator at Chipata level one Hospital has threatened to sue the ministry of Health for mental torture despite the ministry promising that the facility will be demolished. Mr Kennedy Makukula told the Sun in an interview that he is not happy with government’s decision not to compensate the affected families after enduring many years of pollution. And Mr Makukula has disclosed that that he  has decided to sell the house so that he and the rest of the family can return to Chipata in Eastern province. “We are not happy with the government decision.  I am selling the property, we want to go back to my homeland in Chipata with my family “I want to sue them. I want someone who can assist me to win this case. I believe in God. I shall win the case. I want them to compensate us for inhaling gas emission for last six years. “Our health has never been the same due to the pollution from their incinerator, now they only want to remove it?” he said.  He disclosed that the ministry of Health has written to his family informing them that the incinerator will be removed to safeguard the health of his and other families living close to the facility. Mr Makukula together with his family have for the last six years lived next to an incinerator which was constructed after his house was built. Attempts to have the family relocated by government in the recent past proved futile. He complained that due to the pollution from the incinerator he lost a source of income because tenants no longer rent his house which is his only source of income. Mr Makukula also complained that his children have always been unhealthy due to the same problem. The Sun
