CURB THEFT OF DRUGS, MASEBO TOLD
By GIDEON NYENDWANEW Health Minister Sylvia Masebo should curb pilferage of drugs in health facilities and get rid of any corrupt elements, health practitioner Aaron Mujajati has said. Dr Mujajati said there was need to curb pilferage that had taken centre stage in the Ministry of Health. He said any form of illegalities and corruption in the ministry puts the life of innocent Zambians in danger. Dr Mujajati said this during an interview on the Up Date programme on ZNBC TV yesterday.“The Ministry of Health deals with people’s lives and whatever they do should be handled with caution,” he said. He said he was confident that Ms Masebo was the right person for that office because she was a performer and has held that position before.Dr. Mujajati added that Ms Masebo is consultative, clear in her communication and always ready to listen to professionals.“The issue of her not being a doctor should not matter because she is not afraid to engage,” he said.He said he was curious on how the new minister would handle the issues of human resource in the health sector because there were a lot of unemployed nurses and doctors.Dr Mujajati noted that the minister should handle the healthcare finance management properly and ensure discipline in the way finances were handled. He said national health for all was achievable through the National Health Insurance Management Authority because it could be used to leverage the affordability of quality healthcare for all.“Quality health care is very expensive but we need to have ways in which this can be controlled,” Dr Mujajati said.
