3 stolen oxen land man in court

RABECCA BANDA writes@SunZambian A Lusaka man has been dragged to court for allegedly stealing three oxen worth K18,000.Appearing at the Lusaka magistrates court before magistrate Martha Miti was Chrispin Tembo of Kanyama charged with the offence of theft contrary to the laws of Zambia.It is alleged that Tembo on August 5 2020 did steal three Oxen valued at K18,000 the property of Conrad Mumba.Tembo pleaded guilty to the charge but when magistrate Miti asked him why he stole, he changed his plea denying the charge.Magistrate: Did you take the three oxen?Tembo: Yes I did.Magistrate: why did you take it?Tembo: someone booked me to go and pick from one vehicle to mine. I did not know it was stolen, I was just offering a service of transporting the oxen.Magistrate: Did you steal the oxen?Tembo: the person who booked my vehicle is the one who stole, I did not participate in the stealing. I was just told to go and collect the oxen.Magistrate: Why did you agree to have stolen the oxen at the beginning?Tembo: I did not understand the question that’s why I raised my hand to explain what actually happened.
