MATHEWS NDANDULA writes @SunZambianZAMBIA national soccer team head coach Milutin “Micho” Sredojevic said if his decision to drop Clatous Chama and the subsequent remarks in the media was not good he will apologize. The coach was speaking shortly after the international friendly match against Malawi played at Lusaka’s Hereos stadium on Wednesday.“The issue of Chama is water under the bridge, I don’t want to talk about it. Stop digging a hole where there is a bridge – all you need to know is we are in good books with him and he just failed to make it on time.“We have health guidelines to follow. You all know there is coronavirus. All the players were tested and results came out negative, so you wanted me to put other players in danger by allowing him and his colleague to join us after the tests?”“I respect the 29 players in camp who are ready to serve Zambia,” he said. And on the use of local based players, Micho said he was saving the energy for the upcoming Kenya and South Africa games ahead. The head coach also notes that Malawi used all its professional players but Zambia still managed to beat them by a goal to nill but that should not mean he has the best squad.“After this game, I will have sleepless nights – together with my technical bench and the players we have are far much more to do to get the best players I want ahead of the Africa cup and world cup qualifiers.“We had a lot of chances which we failed to utilize upfront so we will work on that and see how we solder on. Am ready for critics tell me the truth where am wrong because that will help me and the players to work even harder,” said Micho. And Malawi coach Meck Mwase said it has been long since his players assembled to have enough time in training together.Flames coach said despite the loss to Zambia his team still have enough time to prepare for against their next engagement more especially Bukinafaso in the Africa cup qualifiers.Zambia managed to beat Malawi through Collins Sikombe’s strike in the 14th minute of the first half.Meanwhile the results and performance of the team has not been praised by some fans adding that the exclusion on experienced players like Kennedy Mweene and Stoppila Sunzu may cost the national team.Chipolopolo fan Chrispin Malata said in an interview that the coach must swallow his pride and call experienced players.“Those players we saw during Malawi game are young boys they need to be combined with foreign and other local players who are doing well look we played well in the first 15 to 20 minutes then later it was something else that we didn’t expect to see from the national team like Zambia as fans we are disappointed let the experienced players be added,” said Malata.Malata says so far Zambia is depending on few players in the name of Fashion Sakala, Enoch Mwepu and Patson Daka so the inclusion of some South Africa based players may help the team ahead of major engagements like the Africa Cup qualifiers.
