Find better ways, Pastor advises youths
LINDA SOKO TEMBO writes I STRONGLY feel that the way the youths are addressing their grievances to government is not correct, protests are not a solution. There are better ways they can do things if they want to be heard, Charisma Ministry International senior pastor, Prophet Ian Genesis has said. Prophet Genesis said that even when he stood with the youths he strongly felt there were better channels that they could use for government to hear them and not through protests which were just endangering people lives. In an interview with the Sun, Prophet Genesis said that the only reason people resorted to protests was if government did not give them a listening ear but government had tried to seek audience with them but they did not respond.  “You only protest when people are not ready to listen to you, but we have heard the Ministry of Sport Youth and Child Development calling for a meeting so that the youths can air out their grievances. “But they have not gone there just a selected few and that’s a sign that government is ready to listen to the youths,” he said. Prophet Genesis said that it was important for the youths to know that Zambia was still in the COVID-19 period and that the fact that God in his mercy had set the country apart by not experiencing so many deaths like other countries, did not mean that Zambia was not in danger. “Things may not be as expected in the country but they are better ways of talking with government. We understand that the youths are grieved they are not stating exactly what they want and are not easily articulating what their grievances are all about,” he said. “If you want jobs to be created and governments listens, you have to wait and allow them to create jobs and right now, we are in the pandemic period we don’t want to risk everyone else,” he said.      Prophet Genesis urged youths to use proper channels such radio stations, Facebook, Televisions stations among others to talk to government and not the issue of insults based protests, which did not work. He also advised the Church to engage the youths and help them become better leaders because the moral fiber of the nation had gone down people no longer respect each other. Prophet Genesis said that it was sad to hear youths disrespecting the President and the Ministers and in return, some Ministers did not respect people adding that there must be a way where youths could respect government and government starts to respect them. He also advised political parties to adopt youths and allow them to stand as councilors, Members of Parliament among others, to lead. The Sun
