MATHEWS NDANDULA writes@SunZambianTHE Zambia national team Africa Cup of Nations (AfCON) qualifier team list circulating on social media has been rubbished by Football House.Football Association of Zambia communications manager Sydney Mungala has dismissed the social media hoax of a list ofplayers claimed to have been summoned by the national team head coach ahead of the Botswana encounter.“Following the wide circulation of a purported team list of the senior Men’s National Team allegedly produced by Chipolopolocoach Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic, the Football Association of Zambia wishes to state that the technical bench has not yetannounced the squad for upcoming fixtures,” reads the statement.“FAZ has a standard procedure for announcing national team call-ups that involves the coach publicly naming his squad orthrough official FAZ media platforms.”FAZ general secretary Adrian Kashala went on to state that the team selection is the preserve of the head coach and he has notyet made his selection.“The circulated list is false and we would like to advise members of the public to ignore it. The national team coach will announcehis squad for upcoming fixtures once we have confirmed our calendar for October fixtures,” FAZ General Secretary Adrian Kashala.“We understand the anxiety some people may be experiencing arising from the absence of international football but that shouldnot be a reason to fabricate national call-ups,” Kashala said.“The responsibility to make call-ups lies entirely with the coach as FAZ does not interfere in that area.”The Chipolopolo’s confirmed international engagement is scheduled for November with back-to-back fixtures against Botswanain the Cameroon 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers while the 2020 Cosafa Senior Men’s Challenge is yet to be confirmed withtwo planned international friendly matches in October against the United Arab Emirates also the cards.
