61 year old man swept away by heavy floods in Masaiti
The body of the 61-year-old man who drowned at Kafubu intake water plant in Luanshya on December 12 has been retrieved and put to rest in Masaiti District. In a statement made available to ZANIS in Ndola this afternoon, Masaiti District Commissioner Patrick Zulu said the deceased Abel Shibeleka of Chief Mushili Chiefdom allegedly drowned after he was swept away by a fast flood at Kafubu intake water plant in Luanshya. Mr Zulu said on the fateful day, deceased Shibeleka who was in the company of his 20-year-old son Abel Shibeleka Junior was crossing the Kafubu river when suddenly a fast flood swept him away. He said a report was then made at Masaiti Police Post by 53-year-old brother to the deceased only identified as Shibeleka. Meanwhile Copperbelt Police Commissioner Charity Kantanga has also confirmed the incident to ZANIS in Ndola today.
