Zamtel rides on Zoona platform

BUUMBA CHIMBULU writes ZAMTEL has partnered with Zoona Zambia to boost digital finance in the country in the midst of Covid-19. Under this partnership, Zamtel Mobile Money and Zoona platforms will support the provision of digital financial services for Zamtel customers at any of the Zoona kiosks and retail stores countrywide. Zamtel Head of Corporate Affairs and Government Relations, Reuben Kamanga, said using Mobile Money was one of the ways people could avoid contracting Covid-19 as customers could transact without using physical cash. Mr Kamanga said in a statement that Zamtel had prioritised access to digital financial services and that the company’s desire was to ensure these services were accessible countrywide.  “We believe that financial inclusion for all Zambians can only be achieved through partnerships with various stakeholders and we are therefore partnering with Zoona so that our customers can access Mobile Money services in the 800 outlets in addition to our existing footprint across the country,” he said. Zoona Zambia Managing Director, Misozi Mkandawire-Bukali, said Zoona was excited to have partnered with Zamtel in pushing the financial inclusion agenda. Ms Bukali said the addition of Zamtel Kwacha products and services to Zoona’s already diverse and ever-expanding financial services offering marked another milestone in Zoona’s drive to become the best interoperable distribution network in Zambia. “We are very excited to announce this partnership.
