A HORDE of cadres on Hakainde Hichilema’s motorcade yesterday attacked Sunday Chanda’s branded vehicle around Katuba area as the opposition leader was making his way back into Lusaka.
The cadres following Mr Hichilema’s vehicle that was coming into Lusaka as the UPND leader was waving at people from the roof of his car started throwing objects at Mr. Chanda’s vehicle while other cadres charged towards the driver and punched him in the chest.
Mr. Chanda who was not in the branded vehicle has described the act as cowardly and an indictment on Mr Hichilema.
The incident started with Mr. Hichilema pointing at Sunday Chanda’s branded vehicle, then the violent cardres started furling things like sweet potatoes, stones and other objects at the car using catapults.
The driver reading the situation decided to drive as fast as he could to escape being attacked further and avoid damage to the car.
The team only managed to stop at some point to assess the damage which fortunately is not much.-SmartEagles
