EX- MINISTER KABANSHI GETS BSIL
Ex-Minister Kabanshi gets bailBy CHARLES MUSONDAFORMER Community Development Minister Emmerine Kabanshi has been granted K50, 000 cash bail pending appeal.Kabanshi has been ordered to provide two working sureties in public service or quasi government institutions and they will be bound in the sum of K100, 000 each in their own recognizance.High Court Judge Lameck Mwale, sitting as Lusaka Chief Resident Magistrate, yesterday further ordered that the sureties should provide proof of employment and their residential details.Mr. Justice Mwale granted the convict bail after finding that there were exceptional circumstances in the matter as demonstrated by her defence lawyer Jonas Zimba. In her application for bail, Kabanshi said as a politician, she hoped to exercise her political desire to take part in both campaigns and voting in the August 12, 2021 general elections. She said her appeal against the conviction and two-year sentence slapped on her had high prospects of succeeding in the High Court.
