COVID CURE?

OLIVER SAMBOKO writes@SunZambianA NDOLA-BASED teacher and researcher has claimed that his herbal formulation MAILACIN can cure Covid-19.Dr Howard Maila of Kabwata Primary School, said he has no doubt that his herbal preparation which is anti-viral in nature and non-toxic can cure Covid-19 following positive effects on common symptoms in other diseases where it has been used.He said his herbal medicine was also effective on treatment for most cancers.Dr Maila said during primary trials, the herbal performed well, adding that this resulted in the World Health Organisation (WHO) to show interest in funding further laboratory and clinical trials.He said he wants his formulation to undergo a larger sample size for the clinical trial to prove its efficacy, adding that its safety has already been proved as it was found to be nontoxic.Dr Maila called on Government through the Ministry of Health and other relevant stakeholders to help propel the development of the medicine which he said within 24 hours of taking it, patients with symptoms can show improvement.He said Zambia should move away from the shackles of always depending on western countries to find cures when it had its own scientists who have found the cure for most diseases in the country.“There is need for mindset change on the part of Government and allow local scientists come up with cures for the benefit of the country.Dr Maila said even if the vaccine was found by western scientists, it will take a long time to reach Third World countries like Zambia considering that they were also overwhelmed by the Covid-19 pandemic.Dr. Maila, whose multi-purpose herbal preparation, Mailacin, underwent clinical trials at the same time with the Sondashi Formula in 2005, has emphasised that he wants clinical trials on 50 Covid-19 patients before it can be rolled out as treatment for those infected.
