NOEL IYOMBWA writes THE one year eight months toddler who suffered burns after a 17-year-old girl poured hot cooking oil on her is still admitted at the University Teaching Hospital (UTH). Mother of the baby, Jane Nyekese said that the baby has been admitted at UTH for a month now, since the unfortunate event that happened in Lusaka’s Kabangwe area. She said that the baby now has low blood pressure and that blood veins have collapsed hence doctors have been having difficulties in conducting blood transfusion. Mrs Nyekese disclosed that the family donated blood but doctors were still in the process of finding suitable treatment for the baby. Meanwhile Mrs Nyekese has expressed disappointment in the manner police officers are handling the matter. She said the police are now concentrating on defilement case forgetting about the assault case. She said that police officers have advised the family that there still investigating the matter of defilement.  The story of a 17 year old pregnant girl who burnt a one year eight months baby with cooking oil has taken a twist after the father of the girl reported her boyfriend to the police for defilement. Purity Mainza who is seven months pregnant is on police bond after the assault incident as a result of an argument with the boyfriend, John Nyekese, who is the elder brother to the burn victim. But father to the girl, Colins Mainza, later reported the boy, John, to the police for defiling his daughter, despite the two families having previously agreed on the course of action for the two teens. Relatives close to the girl said that it was shocking that Mr Mainza reported the boy to the police after the issue of the pregnancy was resolved. He said that after Purity became pregnant for Junior, the two families sat down and resolved the matter and are surprised that Mr Mainza has now raised the issue of defilement.
