ZBF HOLDS PROVINCIAL POLLS
By MICHAEL MIYOBATHE Zambia Boxing Federation ZBF is confident that today’s national provincial elections will usher in men of integrity determined to take boxing forward.ZBF president Dan Chiteule said the organization was looking forward to working with people who are committed to taking the sport forward.“I have high expectations and hoping that men and women of high integrity will be ushered into office.“As a federation we look forward to working with people who are committed and have the interest of the sport at heart and that can bring on ideas to develop boxing at grassroots level.”“It’s very important that ZBF affiliates comply with the constitution because it’s what guides us in the running of boxing in the country.”Meanwhile, ZBF General Secretary Westie Chewe said all clubs that have paid affiliations in 2020 and 2021 will be allowed to participate in the elections.Chewe cautioned all participants to stick to measures the government has put in place to fight the Covid-19 pandemic by following the golden rules and preventive measures before, during and after the meeting.Chewe reminded all treasurers to present financial reports accompanied by stamped original bank statements showing all transactions during their tenure of office.“Elections for MABA will be held at Olympic Youth Development Centre in Lusaka and will be conducted and supervised by an authorised person from National Sports Council of Zambia or Zambia Boxing Federation,” Chewe confirmed. The Provincial ZBF elections return after they were postponed last year due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
