ZANACO BLAME COVID-19
MUKWIMA CHILALA writes ZANACO Football Club coach Chris Kaunda has attributed Wednesday’s 3-0 humiliating loss to twelve time champions Nkana to the COVID-19 pandemic that saw six of his dependable players being knocked out after testing positive minutes before kick-off. Speaking in the aftermath of the game, Kaunda said the news that six of his players had tested positive to the virus affected his game plan as he now had to resort to playing reserve players that were not even part of his game plan. Kaunda said that the performance and game for his players was tough because most of the players that were used were not really ready as they were not a part of his initial starting team. He, however, said that the loss to Nkana was a learning curve for his team and would pick themselves up going into their next games in which the Bankers are scheduled to host Nkwazi. “All that we had planned was scampered, immediately we were told our players had tested positive while we were on the pitch. Just when we’re just about to come to the ground we were told six players out. So we had to call players that were on standby who were completely out of the game and they had to even get boots from those where scheduled to play,” Kaunda said. “The performance became tough because some players were not even there to play so it became difficult for them. Our match got affected and it’s like you are in a house and the doors are locked and you are just told that the house is on house,” Kaunda, however, remained optimistic that his team would pick momentum going into their next fixtures against Nkwazi and Green Eagles respectively. Zanaco FC remain in position 10 with 35 points on the log following their loss to Nkana on Wednesday. The Sun
