ZAMBIANS PRAISED African leaders that came to witness the inauguration of President Hakainde Hichilema have praised Zambia for the peaceful manner in which the August 12 elections and the subsquent transition of power between President Hakainde Hichilema and former President Edgar Lungu were done. Democratic Republican of Congo President Felix Tshisekedi said he could not hide his admiration for Zambia’s democratic credentials. And Minister of Africa at the foreign Commonwealth development office (FCDO) James Duddrige said UK was proud of the people of Zambia who were witnessing the transition of power from one leader to another for the third time. He said he looked forward to working with the UPND government and wished President Hakainde Hichilema all the success. And secretary-general of the Commonwealth Patricia Scotland recalled the difficult at challenging election campaign periods, stressing that many people thought that the August 12 election would not be peaceful. She said Zambians chose peace. She said Zambia’s 2021election will go down in history as a an election which had no bruises, because all the two major contenders were winners in the democratic sense.
