By GRACE CHAILE LESOETSACOACH Tenant Chembo insists legendary cup fighters “Mighty” Mufulira Wanderers will dig deep, till the last drop to avoid relegation. And Chembo said individual training programmes during the coronavirus pandemic will only achieve its intended objective if players maintain the highest level of professionalism.Speaking in a phone interview on Sun FM radio yesterday, the former Buildcon trainer admitted that Wanderers will be under pressure to ensure they do not drop points in the remaining nine games once the Super Division resumes tentatively in June. The nine-time league champions sit second from the bottom on the 18-team log with 14 points from the possible 75 after 25 games played.“We are on drip, but hopes are there. There is still life in the team. We will dig deep till the last drop knowing where we are. Our main objective is to survive relegation. There is still depth in the team despite losing Ghanaian striker Kwame Attram,” Chembo said.He noted that the suspended training sessions due to Covid-19 will have a huge impact on the players’ fitness.Chembo said the onus will be on the players to maintain discipline to adhere to the individual training programmes.“The players must be honest. Honesty must be there because each and every programme that is presented to them has to be followed. But individual training has its own lows and highs. For instance when you give out a schedule, others will not follow it. That’s where professionalism comes in. Players must be professional enough because once the league resumes, it will be on fire,” Chembo said.Chembo also called for the introduction of a quota system on foreign players to preserve the development of local talent.“We are not short of talent in the country and measures need to be put in place. Whatever number we agree on must be implemented. It’s not about just having foreign players, let’s have quality foreign players that will add value to our league. South Africa, have a quota system, so let us put measures to ensure it’s controllable,” he said.
