MOSES MWANZA writes @SunZambian CHOMA Warriors were crowned as 2020 Choma Women’s Football Christmas Cup Tournament Champions on Sunday 27th December 2020 after edging their bitter rivals MUSports Academy 3-1 on postmatch penalties in a highly contested final after battling to a nil-nil score line in a match that was played at St. Patrick’s Ground in Choma. Both sides were favorites in this tournament and they were going into this match with high hopes and it was a winner takes it all in terms of bragging rights in the district and the game did not disappoint as it lived up to the expectations. After a barren draw in regulation time, the game had to be decided on penalties to determine the winner. However, it was Zambia Women’s Under-17 Goalkeeper Mirriam Sikaduli who stole the show and was the hero of the day-saving two spot-kicks to make sure that Team Chopicho wins the bragging rights in the district whereas it was a tough one for her opposite number Ing’hutu Beauty Muchahabali who is also Under-17 goalkeeper but tried her best. The energetic Sikaduli was also voted as the best Goalkeeper of the tournament. Speaking in an interview with the ZamFoot Crew from Choma, Sikaduli was elated to have been voted as the best goalkeeper. She also added that she did not expect saving spot-kicks but she was excited for helping her team come out as the best. “I am used to winning, so am very excited to have been voted as the best goalkeeper of the tournament, it’s an achievement for me, am not very good at saving penalties so I am happy I managed to do so yesterday something that I have been working on this time around and it paid off,” Sikaduli said. Meanwhile, Choma Cabinet Stars ended the tournament as 3rd best team after being awarded maximum points because their opponents Super Rangers failed to show up for the match.
