VICTORIA FALLS AT ITS PEAK
The Victoria Falls in Livingstone has recorded over thirteen thousand local tourists in the first two months of 2021 compared to less than two thousand in the same period last year. This came to light when Southern Province Minister Edify Hamukale and Permanent Secretary Joyce Bwacha toured the site. Dr. Hamukale is also impressed that the number of foreign tourists visiting the Victoria Falls in the last two months has increased to over one hundred compared to twenty in the same period last year. He said the increase in the number of both local and foreign tourists visiting the Victoria Falls is an indication that Zambia is on its way to recovery from the effects of COVID 19. And Dr. Hamukale has described the water levels at the Victoria Falls as being the highest and best in over 10years. And speaking during the tour, National Heritage Conservation Commission NHCC Senior Conservation Officer, Cultural Heritage Richard Mbewe said the Victoria Falls is receiving an average of six thousand visitors in a month. He said the Victoria Falls is safe as the commission has put in place Covid-19 prevention measures at the site.
