UNITED Party for National Development (UPND) supporters took to the streets in Chingola’s Chiwempala area yesterday in protest against the alleged cancellation of party leader Hakainde Hichilema’s flight permit into the Copperbelt. The supporters were chanting slogans, blocking roads with stones and burning tyres on the roads. The supporters were later dispersed by police officers who rushed to the scene. Others were heard vowing to take the police head on for blocking their leader from going to campaign in the Province. Meanwhile, UPND Presidential Spokesperson Anthony Bwalya has urged supporters in the district to remain calm. Mr Bwalya has also urged law enforcement officers to exercise maximum professionalism, restraint and impartiality in the course of discharging their duties.
