‘Together at a Distance’
TERENCE MISELO Writes Some 18 local celebrities and influencers have come together at a distance to champion Zambian Breweries’ #TogetherAtADistance public awareness initiative. According to Langmead and Baker, the social media video brings together top names in music and entertainment who produced their own short videos to encourage the public to follow preventive measures on COVID-19 with an emphasis on staying at home. “We believe in working with local talent in good times and in bad times. Our celebrities play a critical role in getting key messages across to everyone, regardless of age, gender or background,” said Zambian Breweries’ country director Jose Moran. Some of the superstars collaborating with Zambia’s largest brewing company on the #TogetherAtADistance initiative include Jay Rox, Slapdee, Christopher Katongo, El Mukuka, Sebastien Dutch, Bombshell, Salma Sky, Tivo Shikapwashya, DJ Nano and Kachinga. The public awareness initiative was inspired by the #TogetherATADistance campaign launched earlier this month by Zambian Breweries’ parent company AB InBev. “This Initiative clearly demonstrates that it is possible to work together at a distance. Our celebrities recorded their videos from home and sent them to us, but we were all working together on one big project,” Mr Moran noted. He added that the idea for the initiative was birthed out of the company’s deep concern for public health awareness during the current COVID-19 outbreak in Zambia. “We saw the need for more communication in the fight against this disease. Thus, we reached out to various local celebrities to help us push for preventive measures against COVID-19 with a focus on staying at home,” Mr Moran said. He explained that staying at home would reduce the spread of the respiratory disease and stressed the need for people to avoid meeting in bars and clubs, and instead for consumers to enjoy their favourite drink responsibly at home. “COVID-19 does not move people, but people move the disease. Therefore, our #TogetherAtADistance message with our celebrities is timely,” the ZB country director observed. Mr Moran thanked the stars for partnering with the brewing company on its public health awareness initiative. “We are grateful to all the celebrities who took part in this important campaign voluntarily. We value your partnership and commitment towards the fight against COVID-19. Indeed, together, we shall beat this disease,” he emphasised. The videos is on the @ZambianBreweries Facebook page, YouTube and other social media networks.
